Every waking hour brings great fun and entertainment at the St. Joseph County Fair, featuring nine days of non-stop activity at the St. Joseph County 4-H Fairgrounds in South Bend. It’s a perfect chance for families to spend time together, getting close-up looks at all the wonderful animals – from horses and cows to rabbits and goats – that 4-H kids have worked so hard to raise and show. Not to mention all their other creative exhibits of cooking, crafts, photography and more on display. 4-Hers may be the heart of the fair, but be prepared for loads of musical entertainment, carnival rides, food vendors, thrill shows, fireworks and plenty of down-home good times. The fair’s 93rd year brings old favorites, modern-day thrills and a great way to celebrate an extended 4th of July.
Special shows rule the evenings, beginning with The ATV Big Air Tour Extreme Stunt Show back for opening night. ATVs seem to fly and dirt bikes do backflips as thrill-seeking pros zoom through an extreme course of 12-foot tall steel ramps placed widely apart in a 90-minute choreographed show. This outstanding crew provides oohs, ahhs, and plenty of laughs too. Other evenings feature the popular St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo, the Fair Queen Contest, a Monster Truck Throwdown, and, of course, four nights of the big fireworks show.
Daily entertainment brings a host of talent. Country singers DeWayne Spaw and Colton Chapman will each perform, singer Val Ingle is back, as well as the world-class comedy show Allez-OOPS! Don’t miss the three-ring circus and antique tractor parade each day. Throughout the fair’s run, you’ll find special events, including a 4-H youth talent contest, demonstrations on everything from drones to reptiles to a rocket launch, bingo, a strawberry bake-off and much more. Little ones 8 years old and under will enjoy the Queen’s Tea Party on July 3. And, of course, what’s a fair without the Midway? Check out wristband day and special deals for all the rides.
Admission is $8, while parking is free. Daily admission is free before 9 a.m. and for children 8 years and under.
Don’t miss this mind-blowing Moto-Entertainment performance and get face to face with top professional riders after the show.
