November 21 - December 30, 2026
8:00AM - 5:00PM

Step into the world of one of America’s most beloved holiday films at the annual “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit in Hammond, Indiana—the hometown that inspired author and narrator Jean Shepherd’s classic tale. This free holiday attraction features six animated department store window displays originally created for Macy’s in New York City, bringing iconic scenes from the movie to life.

Located at the Indiana Welcome Center, the exhibit transports visitors to the fictional town of Hohman, where Ralphie’s unforgettable Christmas adventures unfold. Families can enjoy special events throughout the season, pose for photos with Santa atop Santa’s Mountain, browse a gift shop filled with movie-themed treasures, and create lasting holiday memories together.

Whether you’re a lifelong fan who can recite every line or discovering the story for the first time, “A Christmas Story” Comes Home is a nostalgic holiday tradition that celebrates the movie’s Northwest Indiana roots and the magic of the season.
