Step Inside the Century of Progress Homes

The Century of Progress Homes in Beverly Shores are five historic houses originally built for the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair to showcase innovative architecture and modern technologies. After the fair, they were moved by barge to Lake Front Drive, where they remain as part of the Indiana Dunes National Park. These homes feature experimental materials and design concepts, such as the House of Tomorrow’s glass walls and central air conditioning, and the Armco-Ferro House’s steel panel construction. Today, they stand as a testament to early 20th-century architectural experimentation and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
