Winter Outdoor Recreation in Indiana’s Cool North

In the winter months, Indiana's Cool North truly earns its name with a variety of outdoor activities like ice skating, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. While some activities are weather-dependent, seize the days when conditions align perfectly. Moreover, there are specific ice skating opportunities available that don't rely on snow or cold weather, making them a must-see!

Ice Skating in Downtown Crown Point and Deep River Waterpark

When summer fades, Deep River Waterpark undergoes a magical winter shift, turning into an inviting ice skating destination! The Ice Plaza welcomes skaters Thursday through Sunday, starting from late November through January, weather permitting. Don’t miss the Friday night “Skate the Soundtrack” to your favorite shows during December and January.

Between mid-November and early March, the City of Crown Point hosts ice skating rinks at Bulldog Park. These rinks are accessible whenever the ice reaches a solid, frozen state.
